Andrew Hill
Andrew Hill is the Assistant Director of Bands and Jazz Ensemble director at Valdosta High School. He is a talented trombone player who is also a trained singer. A Tift County High School honor graduate, he studied at Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton and gained his Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 2003 and a Master of Music Education Degree in 2004 from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA. His educational experience started in Colquitt County Schools with stints at Williams Middle School, Gray Middle School, and Colquitt County High School.

Mr. Hill began his career at Valdosta High School in 2004 when he was hired as the Assistant Director of Bands. His duties include the direction of the Valdosta High School Marching Cats, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, and Jazz Ensemble.

Mr. Hill has been a playing musician and singer in many organizations including, the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and the Valdosta Symphony Chorus. At VSU he was a member of the Trombone Choir, Wind Ensemble, VSU Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, Jazz Combo, Blazin’ Brigade Marching Band, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Ed Barr’s Big Band. During his time at ABAC, he participated in the Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Quintet, Concert Choir.
Mr. Hill was also awarded the opportunity to perform with the Tommy Dorsey Big Band. He also toured Italy with the VSU Chamber Singers in 2001 and 2003. In 2003, Mr. Hill was awarded the opportunity to play the role of Dr. Bartolo in Mozart's opera, the Marriage of Figaro. Mr. Hill is also the winner of the 2004 Valdosta Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition singing Madamina from Mozart's opera, Don Giovanni. He toured Europe and Mexico with the Abraham Baldwin College Jazz Ensemble as alumni trombone soloist in 2005! He is currently a member of the Sine Nomine Singers of Valdosta, GA. The Sine Nomine Singers toured Poland in 2013 and toured Scotland in the summer of 2015. This community choir was founded and directed by Dr. David Lee Johnson. Mr. Hill is also a charter member of the Azalea Winds of Valdosta, Ga. where he played trombone. This community concert band was recently organized in the Fall of 2014 by the late Mr. Frank Butenschon. Mr. Hill is the also the manager and lead singer of his family gospel quartet group from Tifton, GA, the Gospel Starlights.

Andrew Hill is a member of the following professional organizations: Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, International Trombone Association (ITA), International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE), Georgia Association of Jazz Educators (GAJE), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and the Georgia Association of Music Educators (GMEA). Mr. Hill is currently the Minister of Music at Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn, GA.
