Curt Kimbrough

Curt Kimbrough is currently the band director at Valdosta Middle School.  Mr. Kimbrough is a native of Tifton, GA and a 1987 graduate of Tift County High School. Upon graduation, he attended Abraham Baldwin College and later Valdosta State College where he earned his bachelor of music degree in 1991. He later earned his Master of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Il in 1995.
 

Mr. Kimbrough previously taught for 23 years in the Valdosta City School
System as a middle school and high school assistant band director before going to
Tift County High School in 2015 where he has been the director of bands. During
his tenure in Tifton, the band has earned numerous honors and accolades
including superior ratings in all captions at regional marching band at
competitions and festivals. White in Tift County, Mr. Kimbrough took bands to
the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2017 as well as New York City in
2019.

 

His symphonic bands earned consistent superior ratings in both stage and sight-
reading performances. He also led and placed many students in district and region
honor bands. The band program also had its first Georgia All State Band member
in 2019 since 2005. The Tift County High School Jazz Ensemble has established
itself another stellar performing group over the past couple years with its local
performances as well as performances in festivals and jazz events around the area.
When not preparing a band performance, Mr. Kimbrough enjoys spending time
with family, cooking, as well as serving his local community through the Kappa
Tau Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated of which he
has been a member of for over 30 years.

 

Mr. Kimbrough is married to the former Lisa Majett. Together they have three
children, Danielle, Israel, and Abigail.
